Setra in Brief

Setra is one of Sweden’s largest wood products companies and a leading player in Europe. We offer eco-certified wood products for interiors and construction to customers in the building materials trade and industry.

Setra has 1,100 employees and annual sales of almost SEK 4.6 billion. Approximately 60% of sales comprise exports to Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Japan.

Setra’s operations are organised in 3 business areas and independent units.

Redwood business area is responsible for sales of sawn redwood products to industrial customers primarily in Scandinavia, the UK and North Africa. The business area has four specialised redwood sawmills in Horndal, Kastet, Nyby and Skinnskatteberg with a combined annual production of approximately 700,000 m3 of sawn product.

Whitewood business area is responsible for sales of sawn whitewood products to industrial customers primarily in Sweden and northern Europe. The business area has three specialised whitewood sawmills in Hasselfors, Heby and Färila with a combined annual production of approximately 710,000 m3 of sawn product.

Wood Products business area is responsible for Setra’s co-ordinated sales to the Swedish and Norwegian building materials trade. The broad product offering includes joists, panels, mouldings, flooring, glulam, preassure treated wood, joinery and board materials. Production is carried out at three processing units: Långshyttan, Valbo and Skutskär in Sweden. M&S Softwood is a Brittish subsidiary company within the business area.

Independent units are the sawmills in Vimmerby, Malå, Rolfs and the affiliated company Plusshus. The sawmills in Rolfs and Malå are integrated with a planing mill.

The affiliated company Plusshus supplies customised and cost-effective homes and premises made of wood with a high level of prefabrication. The offering includes Trälyftet, Setra’s industrial building system for multi-storey wooden buildings. Customers are commercial property developers and contractors in Sweden and Norway. Plusshus has three factories. In Arvidsjaur manufacture is based on box units, while complete volumes are manufactured in Kristinehamn. In Skellefteå both box units and complete volumes are manufactured. Assembly is offered through the subsidiary Plusshus Entreprenad AB.

Owners
Setra has approximately 2,200 shareholders. The largest are Sveaskog (50%) and Mellanskog (49%). Other shareholders together own about 1% of the shares.
