Glulam Appearance Classes

Setra's glulam products can be finished in different ways, depending on how they will be used and which look is required. Beams and roof trusses, which will be hidden by a ceiling for example, can be treated and finished less than the visible laminated beams, where appearance is an important part of the construction.

Planed, Filed Surfaces

Description:
The sides are planed and processed in a similar way. Surfaces that are visible after installation will be virtually free of major cracks, tree rings, chips or glue residues. Minor imperfections of resin, tree rings, chips or glue residues may be present, but to a limited extent. Visible edges should be beveled.

Availability:
Must be ordered

Recommended for:
Environments where there are high demands on the appearance of visible glulam, for example in homes, schools and public places.

The sides are likely to be unplaned. With smaller glulam of less than 90mm (nominal dimension), usually one side is sawn. Glue spots may appear on all sides and slats with wane.
